CD/DVD Burning with LightScribe

Okay, I used Nero 6 for years with Windows 2000Pro and XP. But when I upgraded to Vista x64 about a year ago, I switched to a free copy of Nero 7 Essentials that came with a Samsung Super WriteMaster DVD burner with LightScribe. Nero burned CDs and DVDs with no problems. However, I have recently had the need to create nicely labeled CDs and decided to buy some HP LightScribe media and burn some CDs and label them using the LightScribe feature in the burner. That is where things went south. For some reason, Nero tells me there is a communication error when trying to create a LightScribe label. I made sure and had the latest firmware for the Samsung burner and the latest updates to the Nero program. Still doesn't work.

Any suggestions? I am ready to ditch Nero since I really do not like all of the bloat that comes with it now. I understand they have Nero 9 - I can't imagine the amoutnt of bloat that it has. Is there anything out there that is efficient/streamlined and works with Vista x64 and has LightScribe capability and works??? I would really like to be able to use the spindle of HP CD-R LightScribe media that I just bought.

Thanks.

Do try updating the core LightScribe driver software from lightscribe.com. That might help Nero get its act together.

I do lots of Lightscribe burning - but I do the label side independently from the data side. For the data side I use a variety of programs depending on what I am doing. For Lightscribe labels, I use a separate computer with SureThing labeling software, which directly links to Lightscribe.com to get new stuff. The Lightscribe labeling computer has two L/S drives.
