getting my mom one for christmas, doesn't have to be anything fast... just to burn cd's and dvd's once in a while. what do you recommend?

Thats about all you need to know.

There are other ones out there, but you don't even need to do the research. I spent so much time decideing a while ago and finally just got the 3520 (previous model). Its just so damn perfect for me. Then again, I don't burn lots of stuff at all...

CD burners are so cheap these days just get one and get over it ;P
 
Try nec, lite on or BENQ all three work great see which is the cheapest/best deal at the time of your purchase.
