CD Drives dissappear when I insert my card reader!

When I insert and use my compact flash card reader, my DVD-ROM and CD-RW disappear. The only way to get them back is to do a system restore and power down the PC. This is getting somewhat annoying. Any ideas? The specs are:

Athlon XP2000 system
Windows XP Home OS
PNY compact flash reader (USB)
Plugging the reader into a USB 2.0 front bay off a PCI card

In XP you can assign Drive letters.

I have my Card reader assigned as R I beleive.

Try booting with the card reader installed and see if the problem continues.

Good thought, but it doesn't seem to be stealing the drive letter from anywhere. It always shows up as "J", and my two CD drives are "G" and "H". I'll still give it a try, though....
