Whats a good Cd burner drive thing, i wanna be able to burn CD's as well as read them because the one I bought the other day went to crap.

no, my cd burner wont read any of the cd's i burn from it. I burnt the Green Day CD, and it wouldnt read it later.

Lite-On and NEC are good cheap drives.
If audio CDs are your thing, you'd be slightly better off w/ a Lite-On, else it's a wash.

I heard that using your burner to read cd/dvd's doesnt always work? Should I buy a normal dvd rom seprate? I dont burn cds/dvds often so its not a pain for me to take out game cd's to burn something.

Yes, sometimes the drive can read what it just burned. I use a Lite-On 811S to burn DVDs, and have to use a Lite-On 166S to read it. Weird.

NEC 3500A or 3520A DVD burner + Lite-On DVD-ROM. Go to club.cdfreaks.com and look for modified firmware for the burners.

In my computer I ONLY have 3 dvd burners. I use them to burn and read both cds and dvds, and I've never had a problem after over 500 burns. Your drive must just be messed up.
