CD drive won't respond

I am running PCLOS 2007 and have been trying install UT2004 to have something familiar to play when I get bored when using linux. However when I run the linux installer from the command prompt I can get to installing the first disc but when I try ejecting the cd to put in disc 2 the drive won't respond. I have tried both cd drives and as long as I have the installer and command prompt open it won't respond. I have also tried unmounting from my computer and installing as root.

I am a linux noob so you might have to hold my hand through this.
 
Yea, once a drive is mounted it's tray is locked so that it can't be removed until it's unmounted. I'm not sure how their installer works but you might be able to get away with copying one of the discs locally and using that.
 
yeah i've thought about that and will now give it a try. I was able to successfully unmount and eject all the cds when I installed when I was using ubuntu. Yeah through reading the command prompt(probably should call it terminal since its linux not windows) I know you have to unmount it first and I tried that (the eject command also unmounts) and it says that the drive is busy and some directory is using it, usually in /usr/something
 
Fixed. the problem was that I had to run the linux installer in the terminal which was what was locking my drive. So I decided to give the other 3 terminal programs a try and finally xterm worked! 🙂 thanks for the help nothinman
