CD Drive wont read cd?

I have a TDK Velocd 48/16 /48, when I put in my Jedi Knight 2 it doesnt read the cd. It just says cd drive and is empty. When I try on my other comp it works fine. Is there some kind of fix for this?
 
I've got an old Mitsumi 24X in a second machine and had the same probs-opend the drive and blew it out with some compressed air and it working fine-might be worth a try.
