CD Drive Stops Working in Windows after about 20 mins

For some reason, my CD drive stops reading data (especially pictures) when i have been using it for about 20 mins in Windows XP. Does anybody know what is causing this or how to fix it?

The computer is a clone laptop, plugged into power. It doesn't happen when accessing audio CDs. I need to reboot to regain access to my CD drive if this happens.
