CD Drive Stopped Responding...

I know the drive is working okay, because it works in other computers: but for some reason my CDRW (plextor 16x10x40A) stopped working in my win2ksp2 box. it gives me an i/o error when i try to access the drive
anyone have anyideas?

-of course all of the proper cables are in and jumpers are set

well, you said you have the proper cable, but could the cable be bad? try the cable in another system. do you have anything else on that ide channel? maybe the ide channel is bad, try plugging in a different cdrom and cable and see if it works. be patient and try all possible combos of devices/cables/ide channels
