cd drive problem

when i put in a cd, my system slows to a crawl until i take it out, i cant even get anything off the cd. please help me

check the cable's and make sure they are snug. make sure DMA is enabled. Other than that the drive may be dying.

i did backup my drive for a reformat a few days ago... ~50 cds burned within a few hours.

the weird thing though is that it stoped working after i reformatted. sometimes when i do weird things like switch to a generic cd drive, then back, it will work, but not for very long
