CD drive doesn't work?

My Lite-On CD drive will not read discs. I've tried several different discs- games, CDs, etc.- but it doesn't do anything when I put the disc in. I've had this CD drive for less than a year and never had any problems before. I never disabled autoplay either. When I put a disc in the drive and look at my drive in the control panel, it shows up as empty. Why is this happening? I've double checked the connections and they appear to be fine. Do CD drives simply break down once in a awhile or can I fix this? Thanks for any help.

check the cables, if there in correctly then most likely the drive is bad.
