CD Drive Auto-Detection not working

You know how a normal CD drive in XP detects a CD as soon as you insert it? Mine just stopped doing that a few days ago. I'm not sure exactly when and I have no idea what I could have done to make it that way. If I have a CD in the drive at startup, then it detects that one and changes the icon in my computer to that cd's. If I take it out and insert another CD, it won't autoplay the new one and the icon and cd name won't change; it'll stay as the old one. If double click the icon, it will do the action that was set on the old cd. If I "open" the cd, I can see the files and everything, but it still won't detect the new cd as the one that's currently in there. What could be wrong? How do I reset the auto-play function? I tried properties and the auto-play tab but it was only options for edia types like pictures and videos.

I fixed it. Just in case anyone is wondering how, I changed
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
entry "NoDriveTypeAutoRun" to hex:95,00,00,00
