CD copier requires Shockwave

my external USB HP copier asked me after configuring it to install Shockwave 8 player in order for the copier to run.
first of all, what the hack does the copier need the player for? and if for some reason or the other does, why didnt it detect the Flash MX installed on the machine since both Flash and Shockwave dont differ much.

the other thing, where can i download that shockwave player? except from the macromedia site. coz it keeps tilling me that there was a problem contacting the site
 
I have no idea why Shockwave would be required.

The Flash player is quite a bit different than the Shockwave player.

As far as I know you have to get the player form Macromedia's site.

Does your browser, or the installer say there's a problem contacting the site? Is this the page you visited for it?
Fair warning - the installer says "feel free to browse other websites" while the installer does its thing (takes awhile, even with cable Internet). Well, once the files were downloaded, and it began the install, IE6, and all of its open windows, closed. 🙁
 
im trying it now, it is the same site.
i think it will take forever, ill write u the exact message as soon as it gets out..........

Now, this is new:

"Network error, please check your internet connection and try later"


i dont get it.
everything is working just fine. only if this download Socks. does it?
coz i dont have Socks permissions
