CD Burning Setup

i want a computer for the sole purpose of burning CD's what should i get?
heres an idea of what i think would be good

15in monitor
generic keyboard and mouse
500 celeron or duron
256mb of mem
60gig HD
40x cdrom
(2) 24x CD writers
Nero 5.5
Win2k Sp2

good enough????

Looks good to me, the only place you need to put some thought/cash into would be your choice of burner.

For the sole purpose of burning cds you may want to go with a duron because they're cheaper and perform better, then go with a mobo with onboard sound/video, then try and get some refurbished stuff, like the monitor and case. I hear the plextor burners are really nice but 2 could be costly, you may want to check out the liteons.

yep, that'd be a nice little setup...but like alienwho said, it all comes down to the burner!

i suggest a sweet plextor with burn-proof...that way you KNOW you're not gonna make coasters..of course, you seem to mention 24x burners...who makes 24x burners?

i ALSO like that you have a 60 gig hard drive there..that's a good time, cause you'll have lots o' space for image files and the such

on a system meant JUST as a CD burning station, are you planning to run both burners silmutaneously, or is one going to waste a a reader?

When I was in Taiwan, I saw a computer with 1 reader and 8 (yes, thats right, 8) 8x Plextor burners. Hehe.

Suggestions:
save the $ on the monitor, get a program like vnc and use it to monitor the burning box (that's what I did for 2 years until I got a scsi burner)..
128mb of ram is more than enough
60gb hd to burn cds? all you need is <1gb for the os and 650-700mb for the cd (of course more space may be appropriate for your situation)
2 burners: if you really want 2 burners then I might suggest scsi as Kartajan stated...

get the yamaha 20x 10x40x cd-rw's...i just got one and it runs alot better then my plex did...it is also seen at boot up as ata rather then pio...and is givien me no 686b b*llshit...the plex always did..i am assuming that it was the pio thing...well thats my 2 cents worth..have fun...oh and the yamaha retail comes with nero5.5 and incd...not sure if you cna get that bundle oem

If SCSI is too pricey for you, get a motherboard that supports RAID. That way you can use the extra IDE channels to have your writers and CD-ROM all as masters.
