When one downloads a webpage for the purposes of viewing it off-line is it possible to burn the contents of the Temp folder which contains it onto a CD and if so how is this done exactly?

Probably the best way to do this is to "Save As" and make sure to save it in the "Web Page, complete" format. This will save the page as you see it. If you make sure to save the page to a new directory you can just take all of the files and burn it to a CD. Hope this is what you are looking for.

Yes I have. When you do this it will create all the required files to view the page off-line. There will be a HTML file and then another directory with images etc. This you can burn with no problem.

Personally, I like the "Web page, single file (*.mht)" option. This saves the page and all the graphics in just one file, which can be later decompressed into separate files if you want. But, either option generally works.

Occasionally, you get error messages that the page cannot be saved. I don't know why this happens, but it happens to me all the time on MSNBC. Also, you may want to double-check the file, i.e. double-click it to open it in explorer -- sometimes you only get part of the file, e.g. a header, for some reason. If the web page has an option to "print this page", it is often good to use that and then save (usually you see the same info but it is formatted in a more printer-friendly format).

Sometimes, the "save" and "save as" options are both greyed out. Don't know why, but opening the page in a new window often solves that.

I have Adobe Acrobat on my system, so if worse comes to worst, I choose Acrobat Distiller as my printer, and then print the web page as a pdf file. If you've got Fax software installed on your system or other software that creates special sorts of printers (e.g. Paperport), that will also probably work.

I am not interested in printing the contents of the off-line webpage but burning it onto a CD. An additional question I have is if the web page is stored in more than one subfolder within the Temp directory should I keep these folders separate or can they be combined?

The relationship between the html file and the folder that it needs to access s/b kept the same wherever you take it. In other words if you burn it to a CD make sure that the HTML file does not end up in the same directory with all the graphics files.

Here's the way it will work: You decide to save a web page you are viewing, using the "Web Page, Complete" option, and in so doing you give it a name, e.g. "NeatArticle." Whatever folder you choose to save it in (you can choose), you will get a file called "NeatArticle.htm". Within the same folder that you choose to save this in, there will be a subfolder called "NeatArticle_files". Within that subfolder will be any additional files and folders you need.

So just remember to always copy both the .htm file and the folder with the corresponding name, and you should be ok. But, keep the .htm file one subdir above the folder, so that their relative position to each other stays the same.

Or, you could just do what I suggested earlier, save in the "Web page, single file" option, and then all you've got to do is copy the one file you want and put it wherever you want.

If this isn't clear, just try it, and you'll see how it works.
