CD Burning problems with Nero 5.5, Windows 2000, Via chipset.

The computer has a Samsung 52x24x52 CD burner and Biostar M7VIQ motherboard. The CD burner is a slave off of a DVD drive. The computer is brand new with a clean installation of Windows 2000 plus all Microsoft updates. I have tried re-installing Nero a couple of times. I have also used 2 different identical drives. I am having two problems:

1. When copying a CD, when the copy is complete, Nero tells me that the process failed, yet the CD is actually burned successfully.

2. I format a CD-RW disk and Nero appears to be doing it but after about 30 or 40 seconds, Nero just closes and the drive does not recognize the CD that is in it.

Also, I know with Roxio it normally takes about a half an hour to format a CD-RW disk. Does/should Nero normally take about the same amount of time to do it?

First I would check for updates on Nero and InCD to see if that can solve any problems.

If I do a format with a RW in InCD it does take me a while, been a while since I have, but I think it was 15-30 minutes.

Yea, check for the latest Nero update, and put the burner as the master on the IDE.

Edit: You don't have both Nero and the Roxio software installed on the computer, do you?
That is a no no.
