CD burning problem

I have a strange CD burning problem.
The burner works. I have backed up whole CD's that were very important to me, and I have backed up specific files on my computer. These CD's can be read and work in other CD drives I have.

Well, I thought it might be nice to back up some of my music CD's as well by making mp3's and then burning them to CD.

The problem is that I get an error when burning. I have used 2 different programs so far to rip the mp3's, but I get the same error no matter which mp3's I try to burn to CD. The latest program I am using is cdex, thanks to a great thread here a while ago.

What happens is that it seems to burn the files OK, but at the end, it says that it has skipped burning all the files, and I get an error something like, "commands issued out of order". Those aren't the exact or full words, but it's something like that.

The CD burner is the Acer 12X8X32, model 1208A. It has Seamless Link, a type of burnproof. So buffer underruns can't be the problem.
I am using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.02b or maybe it's 4.02d. I'm at work now and can't check.

I assume that I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out.

Also, this happens in both win98 and win2k. I dual boot and I tried both, but I get the same kind of coster no matter what OS I try.

Thanks in advance.

are you copying the mp3's to cd as files, or making actual audio CD's?

If you are making audio CD's, try converting the mp3's back to wav files before burning.

I personally prefer NERO to Adaptec's software, but that's just my opinion...

I'm trying to burn them as mp3 files.
When Easy CD Creator opens up, I am picking the option of making a data CD. I am not trying to convert them back into CD audio.
