OK, here're my choices:

1. Yamaha 8824 IDE
2. Ricoh 8832 IDE

Which one of the above is good? No Plextor pls.! Also, does it matters if a drive have small buffer like the Ricoh's 8832 only has 2MB?

Thanks.

I've got the Yamaha 8x8x24 and I think it's great.

Unless the drive has burnproof i wouldn't want a 2MB buffer in an 8x drive...and I'm pretty sure the Ricoh doesn't.

Yamaha is widely regarded as 2nd best after plextor. Personally I prefer them because of the price difference. Appernlty the Yamaha's don't work with CloneCD, but I use CDRWin 3.8 and it's never given me any CD to CD copy grief....

In short I love my yamaha. For under $200US in a retail box it's easily one of the best purchases I've made.

don't buy a mitsumi. they are crap. i've had problems with mine ever since i got it. if i burn a cd, i either have to reboot my machine or reinstall adaptec for it to work again. i know it's probably the drivers and i should download the updated ones, but it still shouldn't be that ridiculous.

Oh $h!t, I am thinking of Yamaha 8824 IDE but Noriaki said it's NOT compatiable with CloneCD, damn.

Anyway, is CDRWin any different from CloneCD? Will CDRWin ignores all errors?

Hey, I just saw an AOpen 12*10*32 burner IDE going selling for $256CDN! Wow, very good price! How do u guys think of?

CDRwin is different from CloneCD...but you can set CDRWin to ignore errors.
Alot of "backupers" swear by CloneCD that it wll copy anything. I've never had trouble making CDRWin copy any cd i threw at it...

I saw AOpen's 12*10*32 IDE from www.comtronic.ca

I think it's a very sweet deal and I have already read a review about this driver from Tom's Hardware. This drive supports CloneCD......

I have the Yamaha...amazing drive....4mb buffer really helps 🙂

If you want to know anything, feel free to email me...

I think I will get the AOpen 12*10*32 instead because it is the cheapest in such speed. Also, it has 4MB buffer as well.....
