I am looking for a CD Burner. I don't have a SCSI card. I wnat a good one. More than anything, top quality. Right now, I am looking at the new plextor 12/10/32 and the new HP. Can anyone recommend one. Also some CDR and CDRW media. Right now, I am leaning to the PNY 12X 800MB CDRs from onvia.com 50 spindle for $25. Also can you recommend where to buy it from.

Buy.com has a nice deal going on with the Plextor drive....final price after coupon is like $230. As for CDR's, try outpost.com for their 50pk Kingston cdr's for about $14. Check out the hot deals forum.

I ordered the plextor 12/10/32 drive from buy.com about a month ago
and I have had no problems with the drive at all.
coming from having a Memorex 2/2/6 I was blinded :Q by the speed of this Plextor drive.

I too was looking for a CD-Writer. After doing a little research on the net, I decide on the Plextor PX-W1210TA/SW. It's a 12x10x32, internal, EIDE writer with BURN-proof technology.

I purchased one at Buy.com for $255.45 after tax, shipping and using a $30.00 coupon. It's rather expensive, but from what I've heard, fast and reliable.

Good luck with your decision,

My decision when I faced it was not getting a 12x fast writer, but spending about 100 bucks and getting a 4x4x24x cd rom. I've worked with Phillips and Smart and friendly brands, and both of them make outstanding CDS out of mp3s. I used the easy cd creator 4.0 to make them, and get near flawless Cds. Most of the flaws are from my mp3-wave converter, or from when I downloaded the mp3.

I rarely burn CDS, so I didn't need the speed of the newer burners. Maybe If i planned on making a CD a week, then I'd consider a 12x burner.

Just consider how much your gonna use the burner, and maybe a 4x would be just fine.
