CD Burner Stopped working?

I recently reformatted the computer and started clean. Ever since that, i can't burn CD's. I have a Lite-on LTR-52327S burner. I've tried burning with iTunes, as well as Nero 6.6. They all just say error, and abort burning. The CD stays blank, nothing even gets started to be written on it. I've also upgraded it's firmware to the most recent version. Any ideas? I feel like it's not hardware failure, and rather software because it started right when I reformatted.

so you wiped the drive completely clean and all programs are reinstalled?
has nero detected the drive and is it listed as the right one?

well i thought it was a dead drive, so i bought a dvd burner to replace it. I put it in, and i get the same error. It will burn data cd's fine, but still not audio cd's. Does this help anyone know what's wrong?

Go to Device Manager, IDE/ATAPI Controllers, and check the Primary and Secondary IDE Controllers, and make sure that DMA is enabled for everything.
