CD Burner question

Would a cd burner that lists requirements at 350xmhz work on a lower speed machine (p133) as long there is software that meets the requirements ? Im thinking it should be fine but wasnt sure.
 
i wouldnt use a burner faster than probably 24x on a 133mhz. something that old probably wont be able to feed data fast enough to the burner. but you can still burn at a slower speed even if you have a fast burner but you're wasting money not using the drive to its full potential.
