CD Burner problems

I bought an A-Open 12x CD Burner OEM recently online and when I installed it into my newly built system it has been giving me a consistent error message when I try and burn. It reads the CD and copies it onto the hard drive but when it starts to record onto the blank CD it reads Medium Error. I am using the software that came with my burner because Adaptec Easy Cd Creator won't recognize the burner without a patch and I can't download onto that system yet. The software is called NTI and it appears to be working but I can't burn. The blank CDs that I am using are FUJI so I don't think that is the problem.

Any Suggestions?
