CD-Burner Placement???

Does it matter whether or not if the CD-Burner is placed on the same IDE channel as the CD-ROM drive? I heard people saying it's ok to place two HDDs on the same IDE channel, not sure about the CD-Burner.
 
I have heard that when copying CD to CD on the fly, having them on the same channel doesn't work. but since A. I don't do that, and B. I think it looks cleaner in the case when the drives are seperated (CD's and HD's) I don't care...

my DVD-ROM and my burner are on the same channel, as my 2 hdd's are on the same channel. all is fine, CD burner works perfect and so does DVD playback/reading CD's.


 
That's what my current configuration is... I do try burn-on-the-fly sometimes though. It seems to work ok, but not sure if having the CD-Burner on the same channel have any negative effects on the CD-ROM. My CD-Burner is old: a 4X2X6 Yamaha. 😛
