CD Burner on 2K Server

Just got done upgrading an old test workstation to a 2000 test server.
Only to find out that my Yamaha 16X SCSI burner did not work.
The system recognized the burner in the device list, but the software did not recognize it.
After a lot of phone calls to a lot of software company's I have discovered a dirty little secret.

CD Burners are not stable on server boxes. This is a shame because my server room is very cramped.
Just curious to see if anyone else out there has been successful at this.

TY

Hm... I had a problem with my IDE burners not being recognized. I just switched burning software and they were picked up. Dunno if this helps.

Thats crap! I run IDE and SCSI burnners on win2k, win2k Server and win2k Advanced server without any problems. Nero, CDrwin, CloneCD, they all work fine. Are you sre that the ASPI layer is installed correctly?

Hmmm, I'm running a Sony 12X burner under W2KS. It was recognized by the operating system and I chose to use Adaptec's s/w to drive the unit. I've burned about 10 CDs with no problems.

What have I done wrong to upset the Silicon GODS!!!!!

I am running Adaptec Easy CD Creator, talked to Yamaha and Adaptec, both tell me they will not support it.
To be honest some buddy's of mine tell me that it has worked on their servers a percentage of the time.

Have you tried another burning software yet? Adaptec is not strong on the compatibility front.

Burning works on our Adv. Server box perfectly fine...But we use NERO 5.5, i personally avoid Adaptec burning software with a passion.
