CD bezel on Lian-Li PC-6077 (Additional info on Lian Li parts)

I am considering the Lian-Li PC-6077 case. I was wondering about the operation of the CD drive bezel included with this case. Do you just place the drive behind the bezel or do you have to remove the original front plastic bezel from the drive to use the one included with the case? Does this thing really work or would I be better off just buying silver drives? Finally, if I use the case bezel, where can I get another one since I am going to have two optical drives?
TIA

Mudbone,

You DO NOT need to remove the original front plastic bezel from the drive. You don't need to physically alter the drive in any way. Lian-Li's bezel includes a button that pushes up against the CD-ROM eject button, and when you push it the CD-ROM tray ejects and the 6077's bezel opens. It's very simply, and effective. I had zero problems installing two CD-ROMs with these bezels.

I don't see a lot of posts about the 6077, but I can honestly say it's the best case I've ever worked with. It's a little expensive at $120 at Newegg, but there's a Lian-Li dealer from New Jersey on Ebay who sells them for $99 (+$25 shipping) with great feedback. He also sells case accessories with Ebay purchases for no additional shipping charge. If you're interested, look him up: Ebay ID - lianlicase.

Thanks for 411. I was beginning to think no one had this case. I managed to find the case at eXcaliberPC.com for $98 ground shipped. But they didn't have extra drive bezels. However, I found a few mod suppliers that carry Lian-Li case accessories. Now that I know how the bezel works, I may go with black drives. That way I have a choice of having a black or silver front. Please tell me about any mods that you have made to this case. Also what did you do for a floppy? I wanted a card reader floppy drive but can't find one in silver. See my thread here.

You found a much better deal than I.

My mods were all simple and fan related. The drive bay comes with an 80mm intake fan, which I swapped out with a Panaflo. The case also comes with a blowhole fan, and a back exhaust fan, which I also replaced with Panaflos. There was a second back exhaust fan spot (no fan included), and I installed a fourth Panaflo.

I bought an extra HD housing kit (model EX-23), but did not install it. I was annoyed that the case's included housing kit had rubber mounts for the HD screws, but oddly the extra EX-23 did not. I ended up mounting both of my HDs in the original housing kit to take advantage of the rubber mounts, and the extra EX-23 is sitting in its box waiting to be sold.

The 6077 comes with a silver FD bezel, which also allows you to use your own FD without taking it apart. I have more that enough space, so I'm going with that setup. Lian-Li makes a card reader for their cases, but it does not have a FD. Sorry man.

Dyloot,

I just got my case in today and WTF? it appears that I am missing the mobo screws. I went through the parts list and I don't have the first item on the list "M/B Fixed Screw #6-32*8 16PCS". Did your case have all the parts?

I found out something very interesting about the model Ex-23 HD housing kit.

Look at this one.

And then at this one.

See how the second one looks like the original one in the case? I am assuming the one you received looks like the first one.

Do you know if Lian Li has a North America office or an official distributor that I could contact about parts? I would like to get just the filter assembly from the EX-23. I want to leave my HD cage in the bottom but move the buttons to the top.

I am happy I chose the Lian Li 6077BW. I added 2 EX-23's, a second CD bezel, a second case fan, plus a fist-full of additional thumb-screws. I have never had a case with a 'window' in it before, so I got that too, but now I kind of wish I hadn't.

The system the Lian Li wraps consists of
Intel D865PERL mobo w/3ghz P4 Prescott 800mhz FSB
Promise EIDE+SATA raid controller
2gb Corsair XMS 2-2-2-5 DDR
4 - WD Raptor 10krpm 74gb (2 raid 0 [E:\Temp], 2 raid 1 [C:\System])
2 - WD 200gb 7200rpm (2 raid 1 [D:\Data])
ATI AIW 9800 Radeon
2 - Plextor 712 DVD burners
1 - Mitsumi card reader + floppy
Logitech Bluetooth wireless kbd+mouse
550w Anatec PSU

I am pleased with it too. It seems to have adequate speed, capacity, and is fault tolerant. Santa was supposed to have brought a Sony KD-34xbr960, but I guess I was bad or something. When it does arrive, the machine will hopefully be used as a home multimedia PC, whatever that means.

Yup, I received the EX-23 kit in the first picture. Obviously it's different from the second.

My case had all the parts, and it sucks to hear that yours did not. Have you had any luck replacing them?

I have no idea if Lian-Li does anything in North America. I do know that the extra kits are not available from retailers like New Egg, which sucks. I went through an Ebay vendor, and luckily, they sent everything to me.
