windows 2000 server with directx8.1, geforce2 64mb, 256mb ram...
i have a few games such as NHL2002 and civ3. never had a problem switch back and forth between the game and OS using alt-tab. a couple of days ago, however, after i switched to OS from a NHL2002 session, the game crashed.
later i discovered that ALL of my cd-based applications failed to launch after the command. they would initialize the cdrom just fine (the game picture would show up), then nothing happens and i am back to the desktops as if nothing has happened.
so this is not really a hardware problem but a software bug/corruption. would anyone know what's going here??? your help is greatly appreciated!!!
