Hey guys,
A couple days ago, whenever I rebooted my computer or whatever...sometimes my dvd-rom drive and cd burner would not show up in My Computer. Well today...I was burning a couple cds and whatnot....and I was getting ready to get into Easy CD Creator again to burn another cd, and the program just hung there. I just thought it was something wrong with windows and really didn't think about it, and just used task manager to get out of it. About five minutes later out of nowhere...I saw this blue screen really really quick and then my computer rebooted. After that, my cd burner and dvd-rom drive hasn't been working at all. It takes forever for my computer to bootup, and I can tell that my dvd-rom is acting weird. My computer did show both the dvd-rom drive and the cd burner about 15 minutes ago and I put in a game to see what would happen. The computer just froze up and the dvd-rom drive didn't know what to do. Does anyone know how to get this fixed? It's really frustrating and need it fixed ASAP.

Thanks!

It sounds like one of your optical drives may be dying.

Unplug one of them from the IDE chain and power and see if it gets better. If it doesn't, unplug the other one.

If they're on the same chain, and one is dying, that can cause the other one to fail sometimes too. Lucky for you, if its your CDRW, DVD +/- drives are getting cheap now, maybe it's time for an upgrade :D
