Just wondering if there is anything I can do to make my RCA RP 3755 play burned discs. Actually, it does play some but others it won't play at all or they sound very static-y. I even tried burning one song at 8x (on my 40x burner) and it didn't work.

Not all "CD Players" are capable of playing CD-R/CDRWs. Sorry, but that's the way it goes. I highly doubt there's any new uploadable firmware for your alarm clock. :)

its usually the quality of cd-rs, just stick to the brand that have worked for you.

But I know it does play some CDRs. Would trying a different burning program work perhaps? The CDs that do work well were burned on a different burner with different software and different CDRs.

I think I might return it to BB .. will they have any problem giving me a refund just because it doesn't read burned CDs?

I have a $50 Philips (paid $5 at walmart on closeout:D) and the alarm clock plays burnt cds just fine.

Try the true silver discs that cdroutlet.com sells, I've had good luck with them in players that would not play other CDR discs (ie my ancient portable).

I just noticed the CD alarm was purchased over 30 days ago so I can't return it. Is there any chance I will be able to exchange it still?

Use Verbatim Datalife Plus or Fuji (Taiyo Yuden) discs exclusively. Never had a problem with either in any player new or old.

There was a thing on the news about that this morning. They said they had some luck returning stuff to stores even after the exchange period by having all paperwork/box contents and being polite. Some places will let it slide (they returned a 6mo old turntable to circuit city by being polite).

ViperGTS is right with the truesilver disks. Try some CDRWs, they're usually a silver/dark grey color on the bottom, and I've gotten them to work in my old Toshiba DVD player that won't read other CDRs.

I brought in a burned CD to test it out on all the alarms and ended up exchanging for a Magnavox that was $30 cheaper. They put the difference back on the credit card. For those who were curious, their policy states that any gifts purchased during the holidays can be returned within 30 days after Dec. 25th (well, 14 days for certain items). Thanks for all the replies.
