I am just finishing my final semester in the Cisco Acadamy. As beging to study in more depth does anybody have any advice on how I should go about studying, or what to expect? I know that there are a few exam prep books out there and was wondering if any of them were worth trying.

I'm studying with Sybex's 4th edition CCNA Study Guide by Todd Lamle.

I've also read the latest CiscoPress CCNA Prerperation Library by Steve McQuerry.

The CiscoPress book was actually divided into 2 books. One for the ICND, and one for INTRO. It was a very detailed read, and went into great detail.

The Sybex book seems to gear itself directly towards passing the exam. I like the way Lamle writes, but the content is only good enough to pass the test, and not so much geared toward full understanding of the concepts.

I'm almost finished with the Sybex book, and I am debating on which, if any, practice tests to purchase.

good luck !

I havent taken the CCNA in over 4 years... Mine is actually expired now, I think the cert is good for 3 years... Anyways I know the test has changed A lot since then... I think they added a router configuration simulation... When I took it, the test was only 70 question, multiple choice.
I took a 4 semester class with lot of hands on exp... I also took a lot of online prep test, surprisingly there were a lot of questions on those prep tests that were on exam... I think I can still log into my Cico.netacad account... Havent tried in about a year but last year I tried sometime even though my class had been over for 3 years and my log on still worked.. I could take all the tests and read all the capters... There was even a download for a Flash program that simulated a router lab. I guess my advice would be the following:
Download every test you can online and take them over and over again... Read the explanations on the answers... This does help. I think a good site was mcmcse.com for online tests.....
Hope that helps.

stay away from those "crams" the ccna's one i have seen are horrible (tons of wrong answers)

bet bet would to go purchase some older routers on ebay and setup a mini lab. Configure all the routers ect... they have some router sims available but they arnt the same.

or stay buddies with your instructor and come in every so often and play with them
