The old one was plenty fast, so I am not sure how they improved on that. Maybe it's faster relative to its more complex gui.

It doesn't really look that different. Is there something I'm missing? Does it not perform as well?

Yeah, If you are referring to my post, I forgot the sarcasm sign for the last bit. Two different points about better performance and it feels the same as always.

Is there something I'm missing?
I think that's exactly it. There's "something" missing.

The new UI obviously doesn't perform as well, in my view at least, else I wouldn't have made a comment about the meaning of the word "improved", would I?

If I had to put the finger on it, I'd say it's the lack of depth (the simulated kind, not the metaphorical one) in the UI, and the styling of the tabs don't really scream "tabs" anymore.

That and the hideously blurred icons make me see this "improved" UI very much as a downgrade.

If you want to discuss other aspects of this new version, be my guest. I wasn't.

Personally I have been using it for years on multiple computers and NEVER had a problem with it.
Me either, I've been using it since it first came out, pretty much, and I can't remember having a problem with it.
To this day, I believe people who claim encountering problems with CCleaner are either very technically proficient and have very specific use cases, or are very technically challenged and can't understand how a checkbox works.

Seems like the new version has been simplified somewhat - perhaps a deliberate capability reduction to prod more users to go with a paid version rather than free. Just a thought.

I can't find any missing features, in fact I found new ones.

But they did give it the Windows 8 treatment, flat ugly looks, things are harder to find, and claims of performance improvements that are imperceptible.

Wish I hadn't updated really.

No, no I wasn't singling any one person out especially you. I just posted a side by side comparison so people could see.
Thanks for letting us know it performs just as good. I'm using an older version so I might just go ahead and upgrade.:)

Thanks. Say NO to the Windows 8 look! Just say NO!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

In all seriousness, it looks like they have added more application-specific cleaning, but that and the look are about all I see.

To be honest the new look is not an issue,I mean how long do you guys have CCleaner up and running for?....Personally five minutes at max so not an issue.

Also still one of the better free Cleaners out there regardless of UI look etc so I for one have no issue.

Duuuuuuuuuuuude.

Don't you even realize what's really going on here? The issue here isn't the new look!

It's the meaning of the word "improved".

Well I didn't know that Improved=Copy of Microsoft.

I'm on 4.19 and i see no reason to upgrade. Piriform is already adding useless features(like that monitoring option that sits in your notification area) and I don't want more of them

Well, for what it's worth, I'm no version 4.09, and I only ever really upgrade when I do a full system format.

Improved is relative to the user in question so nothing to be worked up about, moaning, moaning on the other hand is something that we see too much in these forums.

You seem to be the one worked up about it. We just said we don't like the looks.

If I was worked up I would not use CCleaner,as I stated I use it all the time and it's still ONE of the best free cleaners around, now does that sound like I'm worked up?

I will say they probably change the UI again down the road, but then that's nothing new, we see it all the time with Operating Systems,Anti-virus programs etc,so nothing to get worked up over,I think you see my point.

As to the improved part well they have fixed some bugs and the indexing issue(yes by removing it) so you could say in a way it's improved,GUI will always be a personal choice however.

:)
