I have stellar credit and moved some funds to a new company (Chase) more than a year ago. I recently discovered that someone dinged my credit and looked at my payments. It turns out that i have not received a bill from these folks for 3 months (i pay bills i receive and prior to september never missed a payment to Chase). They refuse to remove the ding to my credit (but they will remove late fees). Whats my next move? Lawyer? What can i do without a lawyer?

I find it odd that CC companies are always "right." You dont receive a bill, your bad. They dont receive payment your bad. They claim that there were no returned bills, yet i never received any bills. I have three active CCs, two i use, and this one is in a drawer.
 
Good luck trying to get that removed from your credit history. My due dates are always the same and I mark them on my calendar and use online banking. Who looks at their bank statements? I certainly don't.

chase has alerts that you can setup if a payment is due within 10 days, you missed a payment, your credit limit is below a certain level, or a transaction surpasses a limit that you set. for a card that is active but not used, you should use those alerts. that way, fraudulent activity can be noticed right away.

My online banking is a joke now that North Fork bought GreenPoint. I have to find something better before this happens to me.

When i RECEIVE a bill i write the balance due and the due date on the outside of the envelope. Then i add it to the "stack" with the most recent due on top. This stack is on my desk. Currently the top is Tmobile on 1/5 for $48.70. That will be going out tomorrow along with my gas bill below it. With my "system" (critique if you have to, but my credit rating is just under 800) no bill == no pay.

Well then there is obviously something wrong with your system, and after a mark goes on your system for being over 90 days late, I don't think you're going to be having just under 800 for a credit score much longer.

Face it, you screwed up. You were unintentionally irresponsible. It sucks, but it happens. Learn to be more responsible from it.

I don't even get statements online anymore. It's completely electronic. I know by heart what my due dates are.
 
That is why you should use online systems, check on a weekly basis all your credit holdings and personal accounts...this helps to prevent identity theft and keep your finances in order.
 
Don't pay for 3 months. LMAO. Use the CC's online banking service and check your balance monthly. You don't need the CC to send you a statement to tell you how much you owe, you can see that on the CC's website. E payment w/ your bank, FTW.

Agreed. My point was that my system works fine, as long at the companies send bills (yes, this is the flaw). Dont you find it odd that Chase went 3 months without sending a bill? One month, OK. But THREE?! Trust me im not trying to shirk responsibility, i would gladly share it with these a$$holes. Given my credit history this is not unreasonable.
 
If you're using any computer-based personal finance program like Quicken or Money, you should be able to set reminders. If you use any sort of day planner, then you can just drop in a to-do item each month. I am absent-minded and had to start using day planners and such, after getting so forgetful I forgot to pay rent one month and got an eviction notice nailed to my door at 6:45 a.m. (draconian landlord) Generally, you're expected to notice if you don't get a bill when you know you owe (for instance, when you've used the card in the month).

Whether it's their fault or yours, though, it's probably not worth the time or money to call a lawyer. You may get more traction by suggesting that you'll find a new credit card processor to handle your business. CC companies have the resources to do what they please, but don't like risking the loss of a customer. Remember they get $$$ from your interest, AS WELL as from credit processing fees they charge the vendors you pay with their card.
