CC Availability in Europe: Visa or MasterCard?

I have traveled before with my MC and never had a problem but I wonder if Visa is as widely accepted? Thoughts?

It used to be the case that Visa was the big one in the UK, and Mastercard big in most of the rest of Europe.

They're both pretty much universally accepeted now. Even as far afield as Poland, I had absolutely no probs using Visa - everywhere that took cards (pretty much everywhere, even some market stalls) would take both.

MC uses something called "MC Eurocard". I think for the most part it's swappable. VISA here is VISA there.

Both of them have a near ubiquitous availability, but I remember seeing one place in Amsterdam that didn't take Visa.

I can't think of a place that took MC but didn't take Visa when I was over there.
