CBS, your NCAA coverage sucks!

Last night, while UNC-Wilmington was trying to perform one of the biggest upset of the night, the Greensboro CBS afiliate cut over to the Duke/Winthrop scrimidge with < 1:30 remaining in the 2nd half. :p

Come on. This was a close game where a low seed has a chance for an upset. Do you really need to go to the sleeper of a game between Duke and Winthrop? Everyone knows it was going to be an blowout.

I just can't believe where CBS puts their priorities. The NCAA tourney is all about upsets and Cinderellas.

On another note, I feel like bragging sine I was 14 of 16 yesterday and am leading the office pool by 30 points. I picked Wilmington over USC and only missed Zaga and Notre Dame. :D

This may be because of a contractual agreement.

I'm in Cincinnati, and I know that every year without fail, CBS will cut away to the beginning of the Cincinnati game regardless of what's going on in the game immediately preceding it (which is usually about to end). I'm pretty sure there are stipulations that CBS must show all of a local market's game.

DirecTV saves the day.

I play producer from my sofa and watch the games I want.

Missed two on 1 sheet, 3 on the other.

Yeah, but IMHO the NCAA tournament is all about the Cinderellas.

Thankfully, this is CBS's last year hosting the tourney, if I'm not mistaken.

I'll bet whoever is next will do a better job and at least run split screens if there is indeed contractual arrangements that mandate showing local coverage.

Of course, but there's nothing CBS can do about that now.

Unless I'm misinterpreting your argument. It sounds to me like you're saying, 'Screw the contracts, they should do what's best for TV.' On the other hand, if you're saying, "The contracts suck now -- fix it next time," then I agree with you.

Oh c'mon. This is the network that always plays "One Shining Moment" after every NCAA championship game. You GOTTA give 'em THAT! ;)

Their HD coverage tonight is total suck, too!

I think they have all of one whole camera angle in HD (the far shot). When shooting free throws it's 480i. When interviewing on the court, it's 480i.

WTF happened to the great quality we had in last week's games at Lexington??

BOO HISS!!

So there're no Democratic HDTV owners?

Shame...cuz when it's done right, looks great. Tonight? Not done right.

Simsons reference. :)

And BTW, I'll be getting my HDTV pretty soon (unless I chicken out because of copy protection on DVI).

Ah...missed the reference.

And don't led DVD copy protection stop ya...I've amassed well over 300 of them and I've not regretted the purchase once.

:)
