Exactly. They should broadcast them all in HD.

That costs lots of money.

Money well spent, if you ask me, but they didn't ask me.

Good... now they just need to replace all the guys on ESPN Monday night football and stop them from bringing celebrities into the booth. Then next season will be nice.

They got rid of Theismann and brought in Jarwes, so there are some steps in the right direction for you :D.

Why not all of them?

As the leading network (ratings-wise) on TV, how can CBS not afford HD cameras for all its crews?

It was so annoying last year that some of the CBS games werent in HD. I couldn't understand it.

Football is 90% of the reason I got a HDTV to start with. Now with shows like Lost, its even better.

It isn't a matter of "can't" so much as "won't", I'm sure.

But anyway, now we get 6 HD games on CBS, 6 on Fox, 1 from ESPN, and 1 from NBC. 32 teams in the NFL, and four teams get a bye each week, so theoretically now every game should be in HD. I think.

well, they say 5 or 6 games a week in the article. And doesn't the NFL network have a game a week too? Do they do HD?

Good, if I can get HD golf every weekend (which is great, you can almost smell the grass and read the greens), football damn well better be in HD too.

What I find even better about HD football is seeing the entire play/lineup (16x9).

It brings a whole new world to the game. Plus that overhead HD cam is GREAT.

For a few years when that cam was in play it was SD and didn't have near the effect. 2007, The Year of High Definition.

I'd forgotten about NFLN. I don't know if they get a weekly game yet or not, I think a Thanksgiving Day game was on NFLN last season. I have NFLN-HD. I would assume they'd broadcast it in HD.

Doesn't Fox broadcast all of the NFC games in HD?

The Titans suck so unless we're playing someone like the Colts or an NFC team we are always in SD. Bleh CBS.

This seems to be a common misconception. CBS was the first to go with HDTV broadcasts for sporting events. To do this, they had to invest in early technology that had limits on the amount of bandwidth that could be handled simultaneously. It's not that they don't have the money, it's when you are a leader, your technology becomes obsolete quicker and first. Fox had the luxury of their SD widescreen broadcast before switching over to real HDTV years after CBS. CBS has plans to replace all of their equipment over time to handle a much larger bandwidth to cover multiple events at the same time. They are investing the money and improving things, but it takes time. Give them so credit for pioneering HDTV sporting events on a large scale and forcing other networks to follow their lead.

CBS does AFC games, so if there are more than 6 AFC-AFC matchups (that aren't at night and therefore on NBC or ESPN) you'll get non-HD games. They also do games when an AFC team visits an NFC team, so add that in and you'll have more than 6 CBS games on some weekends.

Theismann's removal was one of the happiest moments of 2007 for me. :D I really like Jaworski's in-studio stuff, hopefully he'll be as good in the booth.

The celebrity in the booth crap has to go, though.

I really butchered the spelling of "Jaws", huh?

Has CBS always done AFC-based games? No NFC-only?

Also, even though CBS doesn't do as much HD as they should, their HD looks a lot better than Fox's.

There was a big shakeup in recent years. Traditionally, CBS did the NFC, NBC did the AFC and ABC did Monday night.
