CBS: Grammy Awards will be taped delayed.

I'm so sick of hearing about this. On my local CBS affiliate, during the 5:30pm newscast, the GM gave a taped editorial apologizing on behalf of the station and the network, in regards to the Janet Jackson mess. Here's the text of what was said:

STATEMENT OF ELDEN HALE, V.P. AND GENERAL MANAGER OF WFSB-TV3

The chances are most of you watching me now saw Justin Timberlake rip Janet Jackson's top off during the Super Bowl on Sunday.

It was stupid.

It was embarrassing and we apologize to you and your family for their actions.

WFSB families were also offended by the halftime show.

It's true that WFSB did not know about it and CBS says it did not know about it before the live broadcast. Either one of us would have stopped it.

Jackson and Timberlake now admit to having cooked up the stunt themselves, caught in an obvious lie when they initially proclaimed it was an accident.

Though we like to think the best of people, much of the music industry continues to show us its performers do not have the same standards as most of America.

For this reason we have insisted, and CBS has agreed, to delay the grammy telecast Sunday by a few minutes so we can be sure there won't be any pathetic Jackson-Timberlake like stunt.

Again, although we had no control over the live halftime show, we apologize to you and your family.

Our job is to do everything we can to be sure you and your family will never be embarrassed by what we air, and at WFSB we take that job very seriously.

I don't know if I believe CBS when they say Jackson and Timberlake lied. That said... who cares.

They all need to chilllllllllllllll

CBS excuse just doesnt fly. Both CBS and MTV reps said before the Super Bowl, that something shocking would happen during Janets half time preformance.

Aren't most award shows on tape-delay?

All live shows have a 5 second tape delay, which again makes me ponder CBS's words. They had plenty of time to censor it, but they didnt.

What's wrong with America? It freaks out over seeing something that 50% of people have, but doesn't give a damn about the fact that it was lied to about Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq.

Forget boobs, we need more peni$ enhancement drug commercials.

How about the FCC take control of the hundreds of spam emails for porn, viagra, penis enhancement drugs, illegal cable descramblers, etc., that are in my inbox every day. Those are just as easily distributed to children and seen by them, even more so than a 2 second breast flash that probably 98% of the children watching missed.

This is totally untrue.

There is NO delay on live shows. I am the head engineer on a mobile television truck, I have televised the ESPY awards, the Summer X Games, NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA games, I am sitting right now outside Madison Square Garden in the truck, getting ready to do the Knicks game for the Indiana Pacers.

There is no delay. What happens is what you see.

Amen, brother. Exactly what I've been saying since 20 secs. after the event.

I dont know why did they make a big deal out of this Janet Jackson crap. She didnt even show her nipple, and it has been done before. I remember couple of years ago, Lil Kim wore nothing except 2 nipple tape/sticker thingys on each breast to the Grammys. That stunt pales in comparison to the publicity of this incident is getting.

No kiddin.

But doesn't everyone need to know that if those on the drug have an erection that lasts for 4 or more hours that they should seek medical attention???

Or the arguably MORE important issue of the lack of security inherent in electronic voting machines, and the whitewash various government agencies are putting on that subject.

There is a big difference in age and demographics of the Super Bowl and the Grammy's. Plus, everyone EXPECTS Little Kim to be Little Slut. JJ had much more credibility than LiL Kim. I had never even heard of the LiL Kim incident, and I watch TV alot.

No kidding. If your kids are irreversibly damaged by the sight of a breast, you need to think seriously about sending them out into the real world. Then again, the Super Bowl probably wasn't the best venue for that type of thing.

I also think the language of that statement was pretty harsh. You'd think Timberlake came to his house and pissed on his car or something.

Now if they would only do the same for the Academy Awards so that they could cut out the parts with Hollywood schmo's standing on their soapbox.
