Uh....settle down, Beavis.

Although, it does seem to be a bit overboard for CBS, esp. considering the guy responsible for the Heidi incident was never canned for flipping the switch. ;)

That's sickening. One that they apologized, and two that they fired this individual. They could have finished the drama after the special report, and then let the local stations take time from some random infomercial or crap program.

I dont' think Arafat's death was worth interrupting any show. Now, if it had been sudden, that would be different. Considering it was going to happen any time, it just doesn't make sense to cut in and say, "while it would happen any day now, Arafat is finally dead."

I know I wouldn't be able to make it through the week without knowing how CSI ended. How ridiculous.
I couldn't believe how my local news kept apologizing over cutting into the show, and how they stressed that the show would be re-broadcast on Friday. Are people really this pathetic?

It's not that easy because so much of the process has been automated by computer to cut staff.

The man power does not exist to deviate from the schedule like that just by snapping your fingers.

I think it sucks they fired this guy for a minor mistake where some people got pissed about a show but keep Dan Rather that clearly went out of the way to Lie to manufacture a News story.

I concur, it wasnt really breaking news, nor was of much concern to most Americans.

Yeah maybe the average Israeli might have needed to know that Arafat died when he did, but for most Americans it wasnt that important.

Capturing OBL would be newsworthy, some old ass dictator from a "nation" that has little influence on the US isnt.

Castro dying = news break

Arafat dying = let the local news squeeze it in when they can.

I think a ticker at the bottom of the screen would have been appropriate.

Breaking news update: Arafat dies... more later.... enjoy CSI......

Getting back to reality, Arafat's death was expected, and there are plenty of full time news outlets if anyone really wanted to give up the show to keep tabs on the exact moment it happened.

All things considered, this whole topic isn't worth raising a lot of steam. CSI N.Y. truly sucks. It was an executive decision about interrupting one lousy show. It would have been worse if they'd cut away from CSI or CSI Miami. The good news is, it wasn't ABC cutting away from NYPD Blue. :p

This guy cost them market share. It seems Rather's fabricated story didn't hurt them too much.
