CB Radio + PA Speaker Question

Ok ... so ... I had a PA speaker connected to my CB radio.

Accident destroyed speaker. But I left the wire in place to be able to pull it and snake through a new wire when the time came.

I just got my new PA speaker in the mail. The wires are thicker (better quality speaker).
The new speaker is 6"; 15watts max power; 8ohm

The plug is single channel mini-plug.

Think I can just leave the thinner existing wires or should I get a thicker gague for the new, slightly better speaker?

I'm not sure what the CB unit puts out ... it's a Midland Weathermax III ... I can't imagine it's more than 10 watts ... but if the existing wires can only handle 4 watts, then I want thicker to accomodate (LOUDER ;) ) ...

Anyone have some insight?

TIA

For a small, low power speaker like that, I seriously doubt the thicker wire would make any difference.

Exactly, copper is copper in that scenario.
