Theo is reporting Cayman die at 380mm2 and that Antilles will be called 6970 x2 and that the reason for the name change to 68xx for barts instead of 67xx was to make room for Fusion......interesting read....didn't know if anyone heard this yet or not.

We already have a thread about 6xxx die sizes.

To be posting any of these particular websites as being accurate in pre-release info is laughably dumb. A week before GF104's launch Theo said specifically that everyone else's info was wrong and that it would be a 256 core GPU.

Did I say that this was accurate or official? No....just an interesting piece of info since I hadn't heard any mention of an actual size for it other than FUDO's general "biggest die ever"

So according to you, no one should post any info in forums about products until they are released since its all speculation or "laughably dumb"....yeah that sure makes sense

Well the other thread is about Barts not Cayman, so it makes sense to have a different thread for speculation on a different GPU.

380mm^2 fits almost perfectly with the 15% bigger than 5800 GPU rumour (334mm^2 * 1.15 = 384mm^2).

Could be quite the part if true. If the 220mm2 Barts nears GTX470 performance than a 380mm2 Cayman should be quite the beast, assuming it scales well with die size. This is overly simplistic due to memory limitations and other things they might put in the core, but it might give us a ballpark idea of what to expect.

I think they were shooting for 400 mm^2 but went over by a small amount. unfortunately, I don't have sneaky-secret access so I can't actually measure it myself 🙁

Well, today Fud says that the 6870 will be 255mm... I don't think Cayman would be 130mm larger.
