Usually I like using 7200 rpm drives but was thinking of getting a WD caviar green 2 tb drive to store photos. Will be using Photoshop with it. Would taht be okay or should I stick with the caviar blacks? Thanks

Heya,

For pure storage, a green is perfectly fine. I use the exact drive you speak of. The speed of the drive makes zero difference in the world when you're not accessing the data. So ask yourself if you need a millisecond or two faster load times on thumbnail seeking, and if you do, go Black. If not, stay Green.

Very best, :p

I love my 1TB Green for data storage. I'd imagine 2TB would be just fine as well, though I do know the 2TB models were slower rpm, iirc. That may have changed and now they are 7200rpm also? Not sure.

Thanks. Probably will go with the green.

Good choice. I have a 1TB green that I use for backups and I haven't regretted my purchase for a second. The performance isn't as bad as it would seem and it's also the quietest drive I own.
