which is faster the Hitachi 2tb & 3tb coolspin drives or the Caviar Blacks? Reviews seems to point the newer Hitachi 7k5000 series and even the 5900 rpms but just wanted to know if anyone got this and actually used it... for useability experience. Does SATA III really works or more of a gimmick thing. I have an small SSD but cannot afford larger ones.. thought of getting the 2TBs.. as the 3TBs are good but way too much for a 3tb and feel the price will go down a lot soon. 4tb may be the sweet spot soon...

For a spindle drive SATA 3 is not going to help much. The only time it will help is when getting data from drive cache.

I'd get the 7200 RPM version of the Hitachi drives. I'm running two 3TB 7200 RPM Hitachi 7K3000 drives in RAID-0. It's been great so far in the two weeks I've been using it. I get over 300MB/sec read and write sustained transfer rates in ATTO.
