setup:
Sd-11, Slot A 600, 128 pc100, 10GB WD, NetGear fa310tx nic, SB 64 AWE sound, Stealth 3 32mg video.
windows 98

I just threw all of this together as a make shift system..
I was installing windows updates and recieved a blue screen with "Disk Write Error Drive C:"

I've changed the IDE cable and stuff still bugs out.
I'm thinking the drive is bad as scandisk has shown many bad sectors and the drives makes the occassional clicking sound.

Could the problem be anything besides the drive?

thanks,
chris

In all likelyhood, the bad HD is the only problem. Sometimes IDE controllers on the mainboard go bad.

ROFL

Isnt that a clue something might be physically wrong with the HD?

Im sorry, no offence man, but surely you dont need to ask if your drive "might" be failing because it makes a clicking sound and reports errors :p
