This guy is one of the most talented guitarists I've met, and he's been teaching me music theory for the last 6 months. I was able to get a clip of him playing with a bar band recently, where he gave an outstanding improvided performance:

Check this guy out!

It's great learning from someone with so much talent, but it's also disheartening that he's an unknown out there while people like Justin Timberlake fill the airwaves :|

Comments that will come up in this topic:

1) Yes, the bass player is really fat
2) Those are leftovers from nachos on the table
3) The glasses had Killian's Red in them
4) Yes, the bass player is really really fat
5) It was only about 60F out, hence the jackets
6) Yes, the bass player is really really really fat
7) He's playing on a custom made Hammer guitar (he owns several guitars- all custom made to his specs).
8) It's about 11PM, hence the night vision.

Enjoy :)

Cool.

Battle of the bands!

I really need to get the short version up... This one is 65MB 7+ minutes

1) Bassplayer is just height challenged
2) Leftovers are required at all bar gigs. I think it is a union rule.
3) Real bar bands will have Jager shot glasses mixed in
4) You said that
5) WOW, I don't get that less than 100F thing
6) Nope, hasn't grown.
7) Lead (one of our network engrs - a sniffer guru) has some great Fenders. My other co-workers lust after them. Me, I don't know guiters that well.
8) Real video cameras don't care ;) I shoot a Sony VX2100 - King of low light.

Mentioned this in another thread. While Bose is generally the Monster Cable of speakers, these guys are using the Cylinderical Radiators. Sound good with a bit of trail and error getting them dialed in. The break down to a case the size of suitcase and fit in a normal car. The challenge was audio did not come from the board as they don't have one. Used a AT 835ST (stereo "shotgun"), which is my standard.

BTW Fritzo. If you play half as good as your instructor, we need to hear it. Dang.

Can you re-encode that? It's so copy it's nearly unwatchable (I even downloaded it). You can a lead bassist? The guitarist is saying on the sidelines while the bass guy takes the spotlight! heheheh---he needs to get his ass up front!

Hmmm... even plays on my lappie. I did it at 640x480 quality mode to show what we could do. Just loaded new footage Wednesday night and going to cut a new one. The short version is 320x, so when I get it up there, it will run faster.

The lead is one of those quiet guys. Doesn't sing. I have a great guitar isolation that I should do. And yes, the bass player, Darrin, is a character. I may start calling him Herr Jager.

I could post a song from my band... but I'm pretty sure all of our equipment COMBINED was still less than the guitar he was playing. And it was recorded with a mic I got free at a garage sale when I bought a PC (the on/off switch was broken, so now it's soldered to always on). Plus the recordings online are a year old, and we have actually gotten better.
That guy is pretty good, I'm sure he could go on tour with a blues band if he so desired... but is he just playing out of love, instead of desire for fame/fortune?

I downloaded the short version just to see this giant bass player and I was very disappointed. Are you talking about the guy with the goatee? Jesus christ, are you people anorexic? The guy's a totally normal weight. 1/10 unless I see a fat bass player before the thread sinks to page 2 :|

In the main link... Look at the background. About half of the background is the bass player.

well - the band is ok - pretty good - (going by this one track). I wouldn't call it anything 'that' special though. Having said that - I've been, seen and played with a lot of good musicians - and we have a surprising amount of good bands/musicians in this area, that I think I've been spoiled a bit... (Leicestershire/East Midlands, UK). I know a lot of really good guitarists round here for lots of types of music - (be it folk to blues to rock etc. though the best country guitarist in the area died when his microlite disintegrated a couple of years ago :-/ ).
