We're splitting our signal now 5 times and I am noticing an effect on the picture quality... so I thought I should use a signal amplifier. I bought one at Home Depot and it made it even worse... it has a knob to adjust the frequency or something, but no setting seemed to look good. Should I be looking for a higher quality amplifier or perhaps there's a better solution?

i bought two amplifiers from Home Depot after noticing signal degration from our current amplifier. I still have the more expensive one lying around as the first one worked fine. I've optimized the settings and the only *slight* problem is a minor scratch of static on channels around 60 and higher. Otherwise, it works like a charm. BTW...we have the amp running to a distribution block...not some cheapo splitter.

Cool, I definitely use the cheapo splitters. Know any good web sites to find a good distro block?

thanks!

Why pay for a amp. Make the cable company come out and fix the problem. They will install a line amp at the tap to boost the signal into your house.

Yep, they are entirely responsible. They will come test the signal strength and the general integrity of the signal...
