My cat recently just developed a thing for Cheeze Popcorn, I wonder if there's a reason for that?!?!?!
Both of my cats though never touch human food. We can leave things out and they won't bother it.

It all depends on the cat.
My parents kitten loves to play and will hop up into your lap with a little "Prrt?" noise and then curls up to nap.
My cat is highly destructive (broke a vase, my cordless mouse, and a clock this week) to the point where I'm seriously considering getting one of those cages for when I leave her alone in the house.

Kittens != Cats

99% of KITTENS are great, wonderful, playful little creatures. Cats suck and should be fed dog stool until they pass away.

QFT. I didn't want a cat, or any pet for that matter, but the wife came home from her sister's one day with it. About a year later she came home with a puppy, too. I fought to get rid of the dog, but ended up getting it back after the owner was abusive. In hindsight, I should've gotten rid of the cat instead. Pic

Sounds to me like you have a few Get Out Of Jail Free cards to use as you wish, since you're wife didn't deem it necessary to consult her other half regarding the addition of new family members.
