I am definitely a cat person but I can tolerate, even like, some dogs.

Dogs are pets. Cats are companions.

Dogs are companions, cats are pets. All you do to a cat is feed it. The cat doesn't give a shit about you. You can't take a cat with you anywhere. You can't take it to the park on a leash.

Dogs are loyal and loving. They can and love to accompany you to the park for a jog. Dogs are companions.

You are very deluded if you think that an animal cares about you. Dogs are social as a survival instinct much in the way cats are solitary as a survival instinct. Dogs are generally not as capable hunters alone, so they depend on other dogs to hunt. Cats generally speaking are built to be able to hunt alone. So, they do hunt alone and guard personal territories. Obviously I am referring to the majority as there are exceptions.

That said, I prefer the independence and low maintenance and personality of a cat. I like some dogs, but many are nasty and smelly and annoying and bark too damn much. I like playing with dogs as long as they are someone else's dogs. I also don't like cats that are too independent or " 'fraidy"- that is very annoying.

Then explain situations when a dog will save a person/family from harm?

Just protecting a member of the pack. They know where their food comes from.

So, then they do care about you. Interesting...
No... they care about their food

Yet they'll care for members in their pack that don't give them food.

I voted for cats... I was never a fan of dogs after having a few bad experiences as a child, plus I just like cats better anyhow.

cats are the conduit to hell. and they dont listen very well. and they steal babies breath. and their breath smells like fish if you feed them tuna.

That's really 'cause while you are out working they are getting busy with your chick.

Cats love the chicks.
