My girl chewed the shit out of my arm last night. I went for the tummy gambit, and got the full treatment of four mitts fulls of needles, and the mouth. She latches on and just starts chewing :^D

No, I have not brought myself to declawing, and I'm paying for it each day by my slowly deteriorating couch and leather shoes.

Things aren't important. In 50 years, all the great treasures everyone collects will be in a dump, or a thrift shop with $2 price tag on it. Keeping your animal happy is more important, and if your animal is happy, you should be happy.

Yeah, part of the reason why I don't really care about my furniture right now is because I am planning on buying new furniture eventually once I get a house.

And the claws do hurt, I think after having the cat for a year, I've developed a tolerance.

Yea, and if you back off when the cat claws you, they'll start to learn a bit. Not entirely, but my cats seem know when they've clawed me good and their attitude changes. (in a good way)

lol my old cat used to go insane when under the bed or couch. Something about that skirt around it that makes them like attacking whatever is on the other side.

My current cat is declawed though. When she was a kitten and I lived at my parents, she used to literally climb door frames all the way to the top and then not know how to get down. Sometimes we'd get home and she'd be stuck in the curtains all the way on top lmao. She also jumped on us and hanged off our legs. Ouch! She thought she was a squirrel or something.

I'm sorta against declawing and I only believe it should be done if it's the last resort. If it had been my house then, I probably would have said "who cares" and let her keep her claws. She was not really that destructive towards furniture, it's just that she hurt us all the time, and even hurt herself by getting stuck in places lol. But I'm sure she would have grown out of that and with proper discipline would have stopped jumping us.

I'd hear my mom scream randomly sometimes thinking she found a spider, I'd come to check out and see the cat hanging off her leg while she's doing dishes. lmao. Now my cat just likes to bite, but she does not bite that hard, it's more of a playing thing.

The cat enjoys it, and it doesn't bother me. I've been through much worse pain for less of a pay off. Cats can be temporarily disciplined, but they're very willful, and instinct driven, so they'll usually try it again. Attacking, kneading, and other "bad" behavior is a part of their nature. If one doesn't like that, a cat probably isn't the right pet.

Cats are very stuborn. I suppose if you are very patiant you can, but it's hard if you work all day, they KNOW what they're not suppose to do, they just do it anyway, like a boss. I see foot prints on my dining room table all the time, but she wont dare go on it when I'm at home. Cats are sneaky like that.

I used to use a spray bottle to discipline my cat. She likes water now. :awe:

My cat is a sneaky turd also, he knows to not do certain things when I'm home, but I find proof of him doing said things when I'm not there.
