This is pretty much all there is to it. If you are Catholic, you live as a Catholic.
You sound personally offended. I can assure you, no catholic on EARTH actually lives as a catholic, least of all any of the higher-uppers in the catholic church.

Don't get all butt hurt when things don't go your way for disobeying what is taught by the church.
I'm sorry, but I fail to locate the chapter and verse in the bible that deals of in-vitro fertilization. This just goes to show religious people don't have values; they have DOGMA, and they happily enforce their own views of it onto other people despite their own religion's ban on doing such things (the popular proverbs about "judge not, lest ye be judged", and "he who is without sin..." come immediately to mind; I'm sure there are others as well.)

First off "enforcing views" has nothing to do with either of the passages you cite...and secondly if you don't want to be held accountable to the beliefs and views of the Catholic church then don't join or work for them, if you do then you know what you're getting in to

Oh no i'm not at all. The church is made up of sinners. Every single one. Especially myself. But Catholics should do their best to live the Catholic faith. That's all I'm saying here.

I'm sorry also, I fail to see a chapter and verse in the bible that says you have to find a chapter and verse in the bible in order for it to be an official teaching. Remember, the bible was not officially canonized until the 4th century (by the Catholic Church) and chapter and verse was not introduced until sometime in the 13th century. So by this statement, you're claiming that all Christians before the 4th or even the 13th century were teaching incorrect doctrine.

I haven't read the whole thread, but it sounds to me like this would be a good reason for this teacher to leave the Catholic Church and not look back.

The notion of strictly backing everything up with a bible verse is a protestant one, not catholic.

So true. They just make shit up. Like priests can' be married.

Priest can be married in the Eastern churches. It is only in the Western churches where priestly celibacy is practice, not a dogma. St Paul even prefers for men to remain unmarried when in service to the church.

That's an issue of church discipline, not dogma. They've never taught that priests absolutely can't be married, they choose to require celibacy for a variety of reasons. The pope could theoretically say that priests may marry (this is different from say, abortion or female priests which according to their rules aren't even theoretically possible) but the church has said repeatedly that won't happen.

Actually there are some married Catholic priests...

Pope John Paul II issued a little known edict that said Protestant priests wishing to become Catholic shouldn't break their marriage vows.

I had one at my Parish for a short time here in Texas, there aren't many but they do exist...

I assume they were married before they became priests. Must be one of their exceptions.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
3. Married couples should welcome God's gift of children and, therefore, artificial birth control is against the will of God.

Well no, they don't support any of that since the church does not support the murder of human life. I certainly agree that they should have done the same with the men which the woman claims had similar procedures. But this was a matter of the school NOT the church. There seems to be a huge confusion as to who "the Church" is. Just because a school is a Catholic institution it doesn't mean that they speak for entire Church. Sounds to me like the school acted against church teaching as well by allowing the men off easy.

Using a condom isn't "murder of human life" by any definition.

Also, it was the Diocese who made the termination decision in this case. I assume the Diocese represents the Catholic Church in this geographical area. The school administrator who was her boss didn't have a problem with it.

Here's an interview with her:

http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/26/us/indiana-in-vitro-lawsuit/index.html

I'm thinking the fact that she's gorgeous might play well with a jury, if it gets that far.
Hmm...I don't know about that, pretty maybe but I wouldn't say gorgeous:D

And as the priest told her:

she should have kept mum about her fertility treatments because some things are "better left between the individual and God," the complaint said.

If she's Catholic she knows the stance on what she was doing and knew there was a chance not everyone in power would be accepting of her decision even if her direct manager was

My impression is that she would have stayed mum had it not been for the fact that she needed time off, and probably didn't want to lie about the reason. She also felt it would be fine since her principal was actually supportive of what she was doing.

I stand behind gorgeous. She's better looking than the teacher who got fired for porn, face wise anyway.

Could be...but again she knew the official position on what she was doing, just takes one old school official to hear about it and you're taken to task for breaking the rules...same argument as if you get a speeding ticket for going 10 over, there's no sense in arguing that other cops let you off or looked the other way...though if they gave a pass to some men then there's grounds for sexual discrimination
I stand behind gorgeous. She's better looking than the teacher who got fired for porn.
Meh...I find them fairly comparable with a slight edge to the porn teacher, but I like a little trashy:p

Well I was actually referring to abortion, so i miss spoke, my bad. What I meant to say was the church takes the right to life seriously.

And if it is in fact true that the school and the diocese knew about men having vasectomies and didn't act on that knowledge then the diocese is not doing a very good job of representing the teachings of the church and she definitely has a case.

Most of the men getting vasectomies were probably smart enough not to blab to the administration about it.
