Category Digest - New feature?

I just noticed this in my profile on the Personal Options page. There is a Category Digest options that claims I can get "a daily digest email of new posts in this forum." How long has this been there? I just enabled it for the Hot Deals forum so that I (hopefully) get a daily email full of new deal post on a day-by-day basis.

Am I correct in assuming that's how it works, or has this always been there and I'm just clueless?

I only just noticed this myself 2 days ago when I went to change a different setting. It sounds like that's the purpose; however, I wonder how big the emails would get for forums like Off-Topic or For Sale.

I still want to know what this does. I've had it turned on for 6 weeks and haven't gotten anything.

We don't turn it on here, it has been turned off for the user side as well.

This feature would be awesome for the hot deals forum.

It would be nice, but I think the shear amount of new posts each day wouldn't make the digest feature useful.

If it just digested new threads it would be useful. At least to me.

Digest mode just sends your subscriptions once a day in one email.
