For so long i'd heard from friends how good Settlers of Catan was, & finally played the board game later last year.

Then this past winter i played the board game quite frequently with friends as we were doing board gaming nights more often.

Of course, i got hooked on it & went looking to see if there was a PC version, which i found.
I then discovered the official Catan Online client & proceeded to play a ridiculous number of games (somewhere in the low hundreds+), & continue to enjoy playing it occasionally online.

The game itself is terribly laid out IMHO, & confusing as hell to navigate initially (not to mention it's java), but once i got used to it, i was hooked as it's very easy to get a game started or join one.

Sadly, the price for subscribing to Premium membership to unlock the expansions, etc, is just ridiculous, so i only play the base game as there's no way in hell i'm going to pay $7/month or $77/year for it.
 
I play there too, just not recently.

Same timeline though, got hooked wanted to play more, found it at Catan Online, played 100's of games and now couldn't be bothered playing the real board game as its just a PITA.
 
There are plenty out there where it's free to play the expansions, mainly the knights and cities for me, and the $7 a month is beyond stupid.

It should work with the physical version of games you got so you can link them in a way so as long as you have them you can play that version online for free at the official site but sadly they don't do that.
 
I remember many a many years ago playing a version online. From what I remember it was some website setup by a CS guy to study AI. It's where I got this nickname as I had to enter a player name when I started playing and hadn't used one prior to that

Does Canada use a calender with one less month than we do?

anyway, I remember checking this out several years ago and meant to try it, but never did. We've been playing this with some friends recently, they have most of the expansions, and it's quite fun. I should try online so I can learn how to stop sucking.
