It's about damn time. Maybe now I'll load up 64-bit edition for my 3200+...

Wait, does Creative have 64-bit drivers for the Audigy2 ZS? Otherwise I'm screwed

YES ! At least for the Audigy2. I have them, and the OS, now for the video drivers !!!!!

I post 3dmark as soon as I have them loaded.

Thanks. For those interested, according to the release notes, these WILL work on Mobility chips.

EDIT: Scored 8404 on my eMachines M6805 (Mobility Radeon 9600 64MB, all stock speeds), 8514 with the CPU at 2.0 GHz (1.8 stock) in 3DMark 2001. It won't let me publish either result because of PowerNow throttling the CPU speed.
Temporal AA also seems to be enabled in this release too. Go to the Direct3D tab (haven't tried OpenGL yet), then compatability. IIRC, set Alternate Pixel Center to yes.

Sorry if this a newb question, but wouldn't the benchmark applications have to be in 64 bit as well to see the performance upgrade? Or is there already a 64 bit edition of 3dmark03?

OK, I'm not impressed. I forgot to bench first with the default drivers, but here is the section about the drivers afterwards:
Description RADEON 9800 PRO
Manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc.
Total Local Video Memory 128 MB
Total Local Texture Memory 128 MB
Total AGP Memory 0 B
Driver File ati2dvag.dll
Driver Version 6.14.10.6444
Driver Details 8.01-040421a-015296E-ATI
Driver Date 4-21-2004
Driver WHQL Certified false
Max Texture Width 2048 px

And the score ? 4815. (I got about 6000 under 2k)

OOPS... I will recheck all my drivers and update you all. Sorry, I just added 450 gig to this machine and had to re-install windows XP 64 bit.

Edit( you mess with drives, and windows is easily confused on a quad boot)

Edit: OK, I got 4839 after the VIA drivers. Big deal. I am downloading build 340, as it said I was out of date. Will update again after that and another rerun.

OK, after updating to build 340, I get 4850. I also can't seem to register on rage3d. Anyway, much more work needs to be done.

The funny thing is, while watching the benchmark, it seems much smoother than the 32bit benchmark.... And windows boots in about 10 seconds (don't have a stopwatch folks....)

bump. Anybody else tried this yet ? Did I not get something right ? Usually about 5.9-6k in 3dmark03 with a 9800pro, and I got 4850 with these new drivers.

I read over at Rage3d that the Asus K8V didn't get AGP acceleration enabled in Windows XP 64 bit right now. Some bug in the AGP drivers that VIA puts out, or something like that. Link to the thread

Might just be heresay, but that it might explain why you see virtually no change.

There most be something wrong with the application and not the drivers. That's just my guess.

We're working on an article on performance numbers right now ...

What do you guys want to see? Obviously we'll try to get all our games to install and run, but what cards?

at the moment we're looking at x800 xt, 9800 xt, 6800 ultra

we might throw in 5950u if anyone cares about it.

Any other apps (aside from our normal game+benches) we want to look at?

I want it on different chipsets. Someone here mentioned that the VIA drivers don't allow something that slows it down.

Considering that most apps won't see a benefit until they're re-compiled for 64bitness, I'm not too sure what else there is to even run. None the less, I'd reccomend throwing in the 5950U for good measure.
