specs
asrock p45xe

2gb ddr2 667
palit hd3870
win xp pro on an old 10gb ide
sata II drive with all my games

i had the system up an runnin ok, but i felt like it was still a little sluggish, so i decided to do a fresh install of 8.12 drivers. removed them usin the ati tool, an on install, it locks up the puter on the ati splash screen an i have to reset. so then i ran it 3 or 4 more times with the same result. whipped out driver sweeper in safe mode to try an remove any old remnants. same thing. tried several more times before i said, what the hell. it's been a while since i ran a fresh install of xp. get everything set back up and same damn thing. what the hell's going on here? i guess if it ain't broke don't fix it, right? thanks in advance for any help.

looks like i might have a faulty mb. after trying several more times to install drivers, the pc is in a infinite reset loop when i try to power it up. all the fans an drives come on but no video and no post. yeah, i love computers...
